Four Types of Toxic People - Keep Yourself Away

By: Guy Finley

Those with whom we assemble, we soon resemble!

This simple old saying hides a deep Truth that can enlighten and empower every aspect of our lives:

Who we are — our very essence — is continually being transformed by the company we keep.

Stated differently, when we keep the company of what is light and bright, our lives get lighter and brighter. And when we keep the company of what is dark and discouraging, our lives can't help but be dragged downward.

This idea might sound a little simplistic at first, but its power soon becomes evident when we put it to use in the quest to realize our highest aspirations. The key lies in understanding that this principle is active on multiple levels at once. For instance, when referring to "the company we keep," we of course mean the people we spend time with every day — family, friends, co-workers, etc. However, on a deeper and more important level, "company" can also refer to the thoughts and feelings moving within us in any given moment.

1 Muckrakers: These negative sprits live to drag up old painful events and then revel in the anger, resentment, or bitterness that such unhappy memories hold. Stay away from any spirit, in others or in yourself, that wants you to dive into some suffering over what happened in any past moment.

2 Mud Slingers: These malicious spirits pull themselves up by pulling others down. They love to gossip, criticize, judge, and denigrate anyone who ever had the misfortune of spending time with them. The only loyalty these denizens of the unconscious worlds have is to their own pain, which they feed by involving everyone they can in their mud slinging.

3 Swamp Dwellers: There is a group of mired spirits that thrive on low vibrations, and that require a human instrument to play out their endless dark dissonance. Easily recognizable, these misfortunate forces serve up dreadful mental pictures of past and future events for the sake of the unnatural reactions they produce. Ignore these corrupted spirits and they must take their evil speculations elsewhere.

4 Life Haters: These dark spirits perpetuate their hold on the human soul by resisting the beautiful gifts of life. They trick us into commiserating with their complaining, cruelty, and irritation because without our unconscious consent, these chronically conflicted spirits can't spread their poison.

Just as harmful viruses require a human host to exist and thrive, so do negative states require the unconscious consent of human beings to carry out their dark mission. For what power does a negative thought have other than the power to convince a person to do its bidding? The answer is none!

When we begin to consciously withdraw our consent to associate with toxic people, and the toxic thoughts and feelings inside of us, we leave them with no place to thrive. Our real inner work is to sweep clean the places in ourselves where such creatures reside which in turn brightens our life and the lives of everyone around us.

Begin today, this very moment, to withdraw any permission you have unknowingly granted these dark spirits to be in your life. Do not judge yourself, or those around you in whom these misdirected forces are active, but instead come awake and refuse to spend one more moment of your life lending your precious life force to their dark purposes.

This powerful, positive action will change your life. As you begin to refuse to consort with what is dark, you'll find that you begin to attract with what is light, bright, and cheerful. Your relationships will deepen, your professional life will take on new vigor and freshness, and the whole of your days will begin to resemble the radiant Life that you have deliberately chosen as your conscious companion.

Those with whom we assemble, we soon resemble! This simple old saying hides a deep Truth that can enlighten and empower every aspect of our lives: Who we are — our very essence — is continually being transformed by the company we keep. Stated differently, when we keep the company of what is light and bright, our lives get lighter and brighter. And when we keep the company of what is dark and discouraging, our lives can't help but be dragged downward.

Success Advice: Be Open To Improvement

Sometimes, people get into the habit of thinking they have the answers needed. You need to accept that you do not have all the answers and more importantly, be open to recommendations from other people. That does not mean you have to agree or even follow those suggestions, but it does mean to listen. You never know when someone will have an idea that will make things easier and more functional, ultimately helping you arrive at your goal more efficiently.

Health: Information about Tonsils Removal

http://www.entnet.org/HealthInformation/tonsilsAdenoidsPostop.cfm

  • A tonsillectomy, commonly referred to as "getting your tonsils out," is a surgery to remove the tonsils when a child has tonsillitis or frequent infections that won't go away in spite of using antibiotics.
  • An adenoidectomy is a surgery to remove the adenoids when a child has had breathing problems or ear and sinus problems that won't go away with antibiotics.
  • A tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy (T&A) is done to remove both the tonsils and the adenoids when a child has both breathing and swallowing problems.
  • Because the surgeon can reach the tonsils and adenoids simply by opening the child's mouth, there are no incisions (cuts) needed on the outside of the skin.

This factsheet is for people who are having their adenoids and/or tonsils removed, or who would like information about it. It's relevant for both adults and parents of children who are having the operation. However, for simplicity, we refer to 'you' throughout.

Adenoids and tonsils are small lumps of tissue at the back of your nose and throat. An operation to remove your tonsils is called a tonsillectomy and an operation to remove your adenoids is called an adenoidectomy. An operation to remove both is called an adenotonsillectomy.

You will meet the surgeon carrying out your operation to discuss your care. It may differ from what is described here as it will be designed to meet your individual needs.

About adenoid and tonsil removal

Adenoids and tonsils help fight ear, nose and throat infections in young children. Your adenoids lie where your throat meets the back of your nose. Your tonsils lie at the back of your throat, one on each side.

Illustration showing the location of the adenoids and tonsils

Tonsil removal

Most operations to remove tonsils are done in children, but adults can have them removed too. Inflammation of your tonsils is known as tonsillitis. Your GP may refer you to an ENT surgeon (a doctor who specialises in identifying and the surgical treatment of conditions of the ear, nose and throat) to remove your tonsils if you have had tonsillitis:

  • more than seven times in the last year
  • five times or more in each of the last two years
  • three or more times in each of the last three years
  • and then developed a quinsy (a collection of pus between a tonsil and the wall of your throat)

Having your tonsils removed can be an effective treatment for reoccurring and persistent tonsillitis.

Adenoid removal

Most operations to remove adenoids are done in children. The most common reason for removing adenoids is glue ear. If your child is under three and is having grommets inserted for glue ear, his or her adenoids will probably be removed at the same time. Having your adenoids removed is an effective treatment for reoccurring ear infections and nasal blockage caused by enlarged adenoids. However, surgery isn't always needed for children as they often grow out of these problems.

If your child has enlarged adenoids and tonsils, he or she may develop a condition called obstructive sleep apnoea – this causes breathing problems at night. If this happens, your surgeon may recommend an adenotonsillectomy.

What are the alternatives to having your adenoids and tonsils removed?

You may be prescribed antibiotics but, generally, they don't help and aren't used for long-term treatment.

Children's adenoids and tonsils shrink as they get older, so an operation isn't always necessary. Ask your GP for more advice.

Preparing for adenoid and tonsil removal

Your surgeon will explain how to prepare for your procedure. If you have a cold or infection in the week before your operation, it's important to let the hospital know. The operation may need to be postponed until you have fully recovered.

You will have the operation under general anaesthesia. This means you will be asleep during the operation. You will be asked to follow fasting instructions. This means not eating or drinking, typically for about six hours beforehand. However, it's important to follow your surgeon's advice.

Your surgeon will discuss with you what will happen before, during and after your operation, and any pain you might have. This is your opportunity to understand what will happen, and you can help yourself by preparing questions to ask about the risks, benefits and any alternatives to the procedure. This will help you to be informed, so you can give your consent for the procedure to go ahead, which you may be asked to do by signing a consent form.

What happens during adenoid and tonsil removal?

The operation usually takes around 30 minutes but this will depend on whether you're having your tonsils or adenoids removed, or both.

There are several different methods to remove tonsils and adenoids, which include the following.

  • Traditional method – your surgeon will carefully cut your tonsils and/or adenoids out using specialised instruments. He or she will apply pressure to stop the bleeding, and use dissolvable stitches or heat to seal the wound.
  • Lasers or ultrasound waves – your surgeon will use high-energy waves to cut out your adenoids and/or tonsils and will seal the blood vessels to stop any bleeding.
  • Diathermy – your surgeon will use heat from an electric current to cut out your adenoids and/or tonsils. He or she may gently suck the tissue out with a special instrument and will seal the blood vessels.
  • Power-assisted adenoidectomy – your surgeon will use a microdebrider (a powered instrument with a very small rotating tip) to remove your adenoids.

What to expect afterwards

You may need to rest until the effects of the anaesthetic have passed. Try to drink and eat as soon as you feel ready.

You may need pain relief to help with any discomfort as the anaesthetic wears off. You will usually be able to go home when you feel ready, unless your surgeon recommends that you stay overnight. Before you go home, a nurse will give you a date for a follow-up appointment.

You will need to arrange for someone to drive you home. You should have a friend or relative stay with you for the first 24 hours after your operation.

General anaesthesia temporarily affects your co-ordination and reasoning skills, so you must not drive, drink alcohol, operate machinery or sign legal documents for 24 hours afterwards. If you're in any doubt about driving, contact your motor insurer so that you're aware of their recommendations, and always follow your surgeon's advice.

If your surgeon used dissolvable stitches, the amount of time they will take to disappear depends on the type of stitches you have. Ask your surgeon for more information about when you can expect them to disappear.

Recovering from adenoid and tonsil removal

It usually takes about a week or two to make a full recovery from adenoid or tonsil removal, but this varies between individuals, so it's important to follow your surgeon's advice. Rest for this time and stay at home. Keep away from crowded and smoky places, and from people with coughs and colds.

If you need pain relief, you can take over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen. Your surgeon may prescribe you stronger painkillers as well as antibiotics. Always ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice and read the patient information leaflet that comes with your medicine.

Try to drink enough fluids and eat normally. If it's uncomfortable to eat, it may help to take a painkiller (such as paracetamol) half an hour before meals. Don't take aspirin as it may cause bleeding. See our frequently asked questions for more information.

Your throat may look white as your skin heals. If you notice any bleeding from your throat or nose, contact your GP or hospital immediately.

What are the risks?

As with every procedure, there are some risks associated with having your adenoids and tonsils removed. We have not included the chance of these happening as they are specific to you and differ for every person. Ask your surgeon to explain how these risks apply to you.

Side-effects

Side-effects are the unwanted but mostly temporary effects you may get after having the procedure. Common side-effects include:

  • feeling sick
  • a sore throat, earache and stiff jaw or neck
  • a blocked nose – this usually clears within a week or so
  • a change in your voice – you may sound like you're talking through your nose; this can last for around two to four weeks

Complications

Complications are when problems occur during or after the operation. The possible complications of any operation include an unexpected reaction to the anaesthetic or an infection. Specific complications of operations to remove the adenoids and/or tonsils are uncommon, but include:

  • bleeding after the operation
  • damage to your teeth or jaw – this can be caused by the instruments that are used to keep your mouth open during surgery
  • infection and breathing problems – there is a risk that blood and tissue from the operation may get into your throat
  • injury to your Eustachian tube (the tube that connects your middle ear with your throat)

Children who have had their adenoids and tonsils removed may find that their voice sounds different after surgery. This is because, before the operation, the enlarged adenoids and tonsils may have prevented the child from hearing high-pitched sounds clearly. After the operation, these sounds are easier to hear and so it may seem to your child that his or her voice is higher than it used to be.

Excel Tip: IF Function

IF Function

Postby NDH » Thu Jan 02, 2014 5:08 pm

The "IF" function is a simple and powerful one and helps automate decision making in your spreadsheet. The "IF" function checks if the specified condition is true or false, does one thing if it's true, does another if it's false.

The syntax for IF function is:

=IF(logical_test, [value_if_true], [value_if_false])

For example, let's say we have a spreadsheet of a few students and we need to find out quickly who passed the test. We have their Roll Nos. and Marks in columns B & C respectively. In the 'Status' column (Column D), we can create a simple IF function that will tell us whether or not the student passed. (Let's assume 50 or higher is the passing score).

In cell D4, we would enter =IF(C4>49,"PASS","FAIL"). This tells Excel to look in cell C4 (Marks) and test to see if its greater than 49. If it is, excel enters the word "PASS" in cell D4. If the marks obtained are 49 or lower, the word "FAIL" is entered instead.

Simply drag down the cell with the formula, till the last student and get the Pass / Fail Status of each.

The Donkey in the Well

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off! MORAL : Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up. Remember the five simple rules to be happy: 1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive. 2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens. 3. Success advice: The "You"

Accept Responsibility.

You and you alone are responsible for your success. While you will have help in many instances, the bottom line is that you are responsible. You need to be surrounded by the right people, working with the right investors, going about meeting your success in the right way. It is you that will make the choices and therefore, your responsibility to make the right choices. In other words, your desire for success must always be greater that any obstacle that stands in your way.

Top Ways to Prevent Diabetes

Whether you fall in the high-risk category for diabetes, or are simply concerned for your health, do read the top ways in which you avoid getting this disease.

A healthy diet and exercise can help prevent diabetes
. A healthy snack, by definition, is:
1. Low in fat, especially trans fat
2. Low in calories
3. Low-cholesterol
4. Baked rather than fried

A multi-grain snack made from oats, corn, rice, wheat and flax seeds are rich in fibre and provide wholesome nutrition. Oats, wheat have adequate amount of essential amino acids, vitamin B, calcium, iron and specially rich in cellulose whereas corn is an excellent source of iron, B` vitamins, magnesium, vitamin C, phosphorous and zinc.
Overall this multi grain snack brings you considerable health benefits along with great taste.

Of course, knowing what not to eat is as important as knowing what to eat. One should be wise enough to avoid fried, oily and generally high on calorie content snacks.
Besides this, healthy snacks are at the crux of reducing the chances of diseases, losing weight and keeping you energetic all day. The most important advantage of taking healthy snacks is that you do not binge later on foods that are unhealthy and may become the leading cause of obesity and other diseases.

Burn more calories that you consume
 - It is a healthy practice to consume fewer calories than you use. Eat foods that are not high in calories and increase your physical activity by walking more, taking the stairs whenever you can and making a conscious effort to stay active.

Be conscious of your measurements
 - A slim waist is not just a cosmetic vanity, it is also a sign of better health. As Indians, we have a tendency to gain weight around our midriffs and thus it`s very important to make an effort to keep the inches off. Experts suggest that women should keep their waist measurement below 80 cm (31.5 inches), and men below 90 cm (35.5 inches).

Start eating smaller, more frequent meals
 - Many of us follow the policy of eating three solid meals a day. Consider changing over to the divide and eat policy. So if you`re used to eating 4 chappaties, eat 2 now and 2 after a couple of hours. Also, whatever happens, don`t skip breakfast.

Include fruits and vegetables in your diet
 - It`s time to take control of what you eat. Make a conscious effort to include plenty of fruits (whole fruits are far better than juices) and vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables, in your diet. The benefits to your overall health, sense of well-being and looks will be immense.

Gain with whole grains
 - Wheat, brown rice and oats are far healthier for you than refined foods. Make them a part of your diet and keep diabetes at bay.

There`s no escaping exercise
 - When it comes to prevention, the power of regular exercise is far greater than that of any medicine created. Through regular exercise, at least 30 minutes a day, you can prevent a range of diseases - from diabetes to heart disease. It keeps you feeling healthy, looking good and makes life far more enjoyable. If you`re not exercising already, start today.

De-stress
 - Experts have found a strong correlation between stress and diabetes. Don`t simply accept stress as a part of modern living. There are many things you can do to avoid and reduce stress in your life.

Quit smoking
 -

If you needed another reason to quit smoking, here it is. A study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology showed that a person who smoked 16 to 25 cigarettes a day was three times more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes than a non`smoker.

Reduce salt intake
 - Hypertension and diabetes have a very close connection. In fact, the prevalence of hypertension in the diabetic population is twice that of the non-diabetic population. So if you have any of the risk factors of diabetes or hypertension, take care of reducing your salt intake.

Check your blood sugar and cholesterol levels - If you fall in the high-risk group, i.e., if you have a family history of diabetes, along with any one of the risk factors listed above, you must get regular blood sugar and cholesterol checks.

Story: The Power of Good Words

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit.

All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the unfortunate frogs they would never get out. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit.

The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and simply gave up. He fell down and died.

The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and suffering and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs asked him, "Why did you continue jumping. Didn't you hear us?"

The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

This story holds two lessons:

1. There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.

2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill them. Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path.

The power of words… it is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times.

Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another.

Strengthen Your Thoughts About Yourself

Reinforce your thoughts about your good points. If you are good at talking to people, tell yourself this often. If you are good at maths, tell yourself often. This has the benefit of reinforcing and strengthening your self image and will boost your self confidence.
This helps when you feel low and your confidence is shaky. Talk to yourself and remind yourself about your powers, your skills and your past success stories.

Story: Son Falls And Hurts Himself

A son and his father were walking on the mountains.

Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

Curious, he yells: "Who are you?"

He receives the answer: "Who are you?"
And then he screams to the mountain: "I admire you!"

The voice answers: "I admire you!"
Angered at the response, he screams: "Coward!"

He receives the answer: "Coward!"
He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?"

The father smiles and says: "My son, pay attention."

Again the man screams: "You are a champion!"
The voice answers: "You are a champion!"
The boy is surprised, but does not understand.

Then the father explains: "People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE.

It gives you back everything you say or do.
Our life is simply a reflection of our actions.
If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart.

If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.
This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life;
Life will give you back everything you have given to it."

Moral of the story "YOUR LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT'S A REFLECTION OF YOU!"

Top 10 New Year Resolutions

By Junaid Tahir

A New Year's resolution is a self commitment that a person makes to achieve personal goals, projects, or reforming of a bad habit. This commitment is the driving force to perform the corrective and preventive actions throughout the next year in order for achieving the committed result.
Below are the top ten New Year Resolution which you can consider to chose from for your personal goals in next year:

1-     Learning new things:  Gaining more and more knowledge increases the wisdom level by giving you insightful depth in the field of your interest. Whether you are a professional, a businessman, student or a house wife you must learn new things in order to enhance your mental horizons and improving your life standards. You can do this by getting trainings, earning a new degree or certificate, subscribing to online communities or reading books.

2-    Achieving Mental & Spiritual Heights: This one is my favorite as Mental peace and mental prosperity is the most critical aspect of life regardless of the financial situation. Even if you are rich, if you don't have mental peace, you are missing a great blessing so you must work on the techniques to attain a humble and stable mind. This can be achieved by attaining positive personality, by having better control on Anger, by being less Reactive, and by avoiding Stress

3-    Financial Targets: Most of us work on this target all year round. However we do not strategize enough to achieve it. Primarily we spend a lot of money on our wants instead of our needs. A careful analysis must be done before you spend on anything. Read this article for making good decision. Another aspect of achieving financial growth is to increase your sources of income for example running a new business, changing your current job, investing in land or gold etc. You may want to read this side article about what is actual wealth and how to achieve this.

4-    Health and Fitness: With the invention of new luxuries the life style is becoming more and more lazy consequently raising the bar for health related concerns. What adds fuel to the fire is our increased liking for fast foods and dining out in unhealthy restaurants. Junk food adds fats, results in high cholesterol and high Blood Pressure which increase the risk of heart disease leading us towards big disasters. Make a commitment to yourself to minimize eating fast foods and shift to vegetables and fruits. This cannot be done overnight so you have to change your current habits slowly and steadily.

5-    New Career Move: I was listening to the interview of the CEO of Porsche selling company; the guy mentioned that autonomy is the most considerable reason people leave their job. Everyone wants more and more luxury, independence and growth in life. So you make this resolution to go high in your professional ladder this year. Carefully sense the market and make a smart move. Read this article, 15 ways to Find Job

6-    Cutting the clutters: This is not something to achieve rather to leave in order to gain indirect goals. Stats show that people who live simple life have higher happiness index. Basically what happens is that over the course of time we keep purchasing things because of our instant buying habit mixed with our intention to show-off and then eventually we dump these things in the closets or home store. Being too much materialistic and having the lust of acquiring more and more things, even if we don't use them, takes us away from simple life which ultimately add extra layer to the complications in our lives . Now is the time to clear all those bulky things in the closet and store including old clothes, toys and other commodities to give in charity. Personally, I use 6 months formula" "If something has not been used for the last 6 months, there is a most likely chance that it will not be used in next 6 months so better to give this to poor people & family around me"

7-    Spend more time with family: With more focus on materialistic things we have reduced our family time, sometimes our children are being referred to as new age orphans. With everyone busy on his smart phones, PDAs, laptops and Television we have almost killed the family union spirit which is adding complications in relationships resulting in serious consequences. Strong family bonding are an indicative of better happiness index. People who spend less time with families are comparatively less happier. Make a resolution this year to become a family guy. Spend time with them, spend money on family fun activities and you will feel a special mental peace eventually.

8-    Getting Organized: Staying organized has many advantages in terms of having more time for yourself and family; in terms of saving money; peace of mind, better health, balanced life and improved professional/Social life. This involves being organized in terms of time, in terms of office desk, official work, differentiating between urgent and important tasks and organize them, maintaining a personal diary, maintaining a list of things-to-do.

9-    Helping Others: Not a lot of people focus on this but I would really appeal you to consider this. Charity Services are the tax we pay back to society for living on earth. Almost all of the religions emphasize to its followers to take care of people around them. Practically speaking, you can assign 3-5% of your earnings for charity projects within your country or foreign countries who are less fortunate; having low or no food and/or having lack of other basic human necessities like water, clothes, medicines etc. Article written by Junaid.Tahir

10-   Quit Smoking and drinking: Understood that bad habits die hard but remember the fact that bad habits make you die early too, especially when it comes to habits of smoking and drinking. Quit them ASAP before they overcome your health. You already know that how these two habits affect your lungs, kidneys and levers. Quit them before they make you quit the world.

visionary person like you can definitely achieve the targets by being proactive and analytical, by having consistency and Hard work and the ability to focus on the commitments you make. Make Effective decisions for the new year and work hard to achieve concrete results.
Good luck and Happy New Year !!!

How Do You Want To Be Remembered

When you die, you will be shown as a birth date, a death date and a dash between.

Live your life so that people will remember the dash, not the numbers

Drop All Negative References Of Your Past

One of the most severely limiting beliefs that many of us have is that the person we were yesterday is the person we have to be today.

If you can see how ridiculous and self-defeating this belief is, you can make an instant shift toward success. What prevents us from tapping into this potential is our own mental ties to the past.
Letting go of your past is like taking a set of heavy chains from around your neck.

Our past has no power other than the power we give it. One of the most dynamic and significant changes you can make in your life is to make the commitment to drop all negative references to your past, to begin living now.
The positive energy you create may shock you. New doors and opportunities will open.
As your past habits creep into your consciousness, simply acknowledge them and let them go.
Focus on what you can do today, right now in this moment.
