Story: Boy with Ruby

A little boy went to his old grandpa and asked, "What's the value of life?"

The grandpa gave him one stone and said, "Find out the value of this stone, but don't sell it."

The boy took the stone to an Orange Seller and asked him what its cost would be.

The Orange Seller saw the shiny stone and said, "You can take 12 oranges and give me the stone."

The boy apologized and said that the grandpa has asked him not to sell it.

He went ahead and found a vegetable seller.

"What could be the value of this stone?" he asked the vegetable seller.

The seller saw the shiny stone and said, "Take one sack of potatoes and give me the stone."

The boy again apologized and said he can't sell it.

Further ahead, he went into a jewellery shop and asked the value of the stone.

The jeweler saw the stone under a lens and said, "I'll give you 1 million for this stone." 

When the boy shook his head, the jeweler said, "Alright, alright, take 2 24karat gold necklaces, but give me the stone."

The boy explained that he can't sell the stone.

Further ahead, the boy saw a precious stone's shop and asked the seller the value of this stone.

When the precious stone's seller saw the big ruby, he lay down a red cloth and put the ruby on it.

Then he walked in circles around the ruby and bent down and
​carefully noticed the ruby and asked "Where did you bring this priceless ruby from?" he asked.

"Even if I sell the whole world, and my life, I won't
be able to purchase this priceless stone."

Stunned and confused, the boy returned to the grandpa and told him what had happened. 

"Now tell me what is the value of life, grandpa?"

Grandpa said, 

"The answers you got from the Orange Seller, the Vegetable Seller, the Jeweler & the Precious Stone's Seller explain the value of our life...

You may be a precious stone, even priceless, but, people will value you based on their financial status, their level of information, their belief in you, their motive behind entertaining you, their ambition, and their risk taking ability. 

But don't fear, you will surely find someone who will discern your true value."

Don't sell yourself cheap.
You are Unique.
No one can Replace you.

Story: Son Falls And Hurts Himself

A son and his father were walking on the mountains.

Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

Curious, he yells: "Who are you?"

He receives the answer: "Who are you?"
And then he screams to the mountain: "I admire you!"

The voice answers: "I admire you!"
Angered at the response, he screams: "Coward!"

He receives the answer: "Coward!"
He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?"

The father smiles and says: "My son, pay attention."

Again the man screams: "You are a champion!"
The voice answers: "You are a champion!"
The boy is surprised, but does not understand.

Then the father explains: "People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE.

It gives you back everything you say or do.
Our life is simply a reflection of our actions.
If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart.

If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.
This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life;

1. Determine when you'll floss. This is the easiest part. The only time that really makes sense is immediately before or after you brush your teeth. So, your toothbrush serves as the trigger point.
2. Have visual reminder, too. Just in case your trigger point doesn't remind you to floss, it's good to have a backup reminder. Put a note on the bathroom mirror or put the floss out where you have to see it.
3. Start with just one tooth. It sounds silly, but it works. The thought of flossing all of your teeth might seem like too much work, but flossing one tooth is so simple and easy that you'll just do it.
  • Over the course of a few days, add in your other teeth one or two at a time.
  • You'll find that if you can just do one tooth, you're likely to keep on going and do them all.
4. Try to enjoy it. If you focus on the fact that it's boring or annoying, you're going to be miserable for 60 seconds. But you can choose to focus on how you're getting your teeth nice and clean and doing something important for your health.
  • A simple task that has so many benefits becomes easy to enjoy.
5. Mark your calendar. Put a big X on the calendar every time you remember to floss.
6. Remember that you're setting an example for your kids. Of course, you want them to floss. Remember that they're always watching you. If you're not modeling flossing, they're not going to floss either.
7. Educate yourself about all the health benefits. Do a quick search online and educate yourself about all the health benefits of flossing. You'll be amazed.
8. Assume the worst will happen if you fail to floss. While it's always preferable to feel compelled to perform an action for the benefits, sometimes using pain or a negative image can be a stronger motivator.
  • If you can't seem to get into the flossing habit, consider visualizing the worst that could happen if you're not flossing. Imagine your teeth turning brown and falling out. Think how others might be uncomfortable and repelled by your appearance.
  • Now imagine flossing your teeth and having nice, clean, white teeth.
9. Hang in there. It will take about 30 consecutive days of flossing to build the habit and keep it. You simply have to be diligent and floss every day, even if you're not feeling like it. It's only a minute of your time. You can do it!
That's all there is to it. In a few short weeks, you can be flossing every day and doing something wonderful for your teeth and your overall health. Something simple, like flossing, can be a powerful springboard to developing other worthwhile health habits, too.

By showing yourself that you can floss every day, you'll begin to believe that you can control other aspects of your behavior. Flossing is a simple task that can have profound, positive effects. Make the effort and you won't regret it!

1. Either this or that

Sometimes we’re not sure that we’ve correctly remembered the information or the name we need to start our search. But this doesn’t have to be a problem! Simply put in a few potential variations of what you’re looking for, and separate them by typing the “|“ symbol. Instead of this symbol you can also use ”or." Then it’s easy enough to choose the result that makes the most sense.

2. Searching using synonyms

Our language is rich in synonyms. Sometimes this can be very convenient when doing research online. If you need to find websites on a given subject rather than those that include a specific phrase, add the "~" symbol to your search.
For example, if you search for the term "healthy ~food" you’ll get results about the principles of healthy eating, cooking recipes, as well as healthy dining options.

3. Searching within websites

Sometimes you read an interesting article on a website and find yourself subsequently wanting to share it with your friends or simply reread it. The easiest way to find the desired piece of information again is to search within the website. To do this, type the address of the site, then a key word or entire phrase from the article, and it should come up immediately.

4. The power of the asterisk

When our cunning memory decides to prevent us from recalling that one key word, phrase, or number we need in order to find what we’re looking for, you can turn to the powerful "*" symbol. Just use this in the place of the word/phrase you can’t remember, and you should be able to find the results you’re looking for.

5. When lots of words are missing

If it’s the lengthier half of the phrase you can’t remember rather than a single key word, try writing out the first and last words and putting “AROUND + (the approximate number of missing words)“ between them. For example, ”I wandered AROUND(4) cloud."

Sometimes we urgently need to acquaint ourselves with events that occurred during a certain period of time. To do so, you can add a time frame to your search query with the help of three dots between the dates. For example, if we want to find out about scientific discoveries during the 20th century, we can write:

To help find the key words and name of an article, type “intitle:“ before the search term, without any spaces between them. In order to find the words from a URL, use ”inurl:".

If you’ve found something you really like online and want to find similar websites, type in "related:" and then the address of the site, again without a space between them.

9. Whole phrases

Framing the search term within quotation marks is the simplest and most effective way to find something specific and in the exact order you typed it in.
For example, if you type in the words I’m picking up good vibrations without quotation marks, the search engine will show the results where these words appear in any order on a website, as opposed to the specific order in which you typed them.
If, on the other hand, you type "I’m picking up good vibrations" within quotation marks, you’ll get only those results where these words appear only in the order you typed them in. This is a great way to find the lyrics to a song when you only know one line from it.

10. Unimportant search words

To remove unimportant search words from your query, simply write a minus symbol before each one. For example, if you want to find a site about interesting books, but you aren’t looking to buy them, you can write the following:

This idea might sound a little simplistic at first, but its power soon becomes evident when we put it to use in the quest to realize our highest aspirations. The key lies in understanding that this principle is active on multiple levels at once. For instance, when referring to "the company we keep," we of course mean the people we spend time with every day — family, friends, co-workers, etc. However, on a deeper and more important level, "company" can also refer to the thoughts and feelings moving within us in any given moment.

1 Muckrakers: These negative sprits live to drag up old painful events and then revel in the anger, resentment, or bitterness that such unhappy memories hold. Stay away from any spirit, in others or in yourself, that wants you to dive into some suffering over what happened in any past moment.

2 Mud Slingers: These malicious spirits pull themselves up by pulling others down. They love to gossip, criticize, judge, and denigrate anyone who ever had the misfortune of spending time with them. The only loyalty these denizens of the unconscious worlds have is to their own pain, which they feed by involving everyone they can in their mud slinging.

3 Swamp Dwellers: There is a group of mired spirits that thrive on low vibrations, and that require a human instrument to play out their endless dark dissonance. Easily recognizable, these misfortunate forces serve up dreadful mental pictures of past and future events for the sake of the unnatural reactions they produce. Ignore these corrupted spirits and they must take their evil speculations elsewhere.

4 Life Haters: These dark spirits perpetuate their hold on the human soul by resisting the beautiful gifts of life. They trick us into commiserating with their complaining, cruelty, and irritation because without our unconscious consent, these chronically conflicted spirits can't spread their poison.

Just as harmful viruses require a human host to exist and thrive, so do negative states require the unconscious consent of human beings to carry out their dark mission. For what power does a negative thought have other than the power to convince a person to do its bidding? The answer is none!

When we begin to consciously withdraw our consent to associate with toxic people, and the toxic thoughts and feelings inside of us, we leave them with no place to thrive. Our real inner work is to sweep clean the places in ourselves where such creatures reside which in turn brightens our life and the lives of everyone around us.

Begin today, this very moment, to withdraw any permission you have unknowingly granted these dark spirits to be in your life. Do not judge yourself, or those around you in whom these misdirected forces are active, but instead come awake and refuse to spend one more moment of your life lending your precious life force to their dark purposes.

This powerful, positive action will change your life. As you begin to refuse to consort with what is dark, you'll find that you begin to attract with what is light, bright, and cheerful. Though I realize that worldly possessions are not the only things in life, I also recognize that having a few of the things that bring me joy and happiness makes me feel more positive about my life in general.

Today, I reflect on my overall attitude about life. I realize that to reap the most benefits in my life, I should focus on positivity each day. Regardless of what I confront in an average day, I know I can do it with positivity and acceptance.

Tabata workouts might sound tempting if you like the idea of getting fit in four minutes. Find out what’s behind the amazing claims surrounding these exercises and whether they’ll work for you.

Tabata is the brainchild of Dr. Izumi Tabata, who trained Japan’s speed skating team back in the 1990’s. Even those trained athletes had a hard time keeping up, but they saw impressive results in just a few short weeks. Celebrities, like Kyra Sedgewick, swear by this program.

These workouts are a variation of the interval training that athletes have used for years. You alternate between short bursts of intense activity and gentler recovery periods. With Tabata, you train at full strength for 20 seconds, rest for 10 seconds, and repeat the cycle 8 times.

Benefits of Tabata Workouts

1. Save time. Many people are drawn to Tabata because you can get fit in less time. Think of everything you can accomplish with the extra hours that you free up. You can spend more time with your family or catch up on home repairs.
2. Increase your anaerobic capacity. Ordinary activities, such as jogging and swimming, will increase your aerobic capacity. Only intense exertion seems to affect anaerobic fitness. Vitamin D Boosts Bone Health
Vitamin D is critical for strong bones, from infancy into old age. It helps the body absorb calcium from food. In older adults, a daily dose of "D" and calcium helps to prevent fractures and brittle bones. Children need "D" to build strong bones and prevent rickets, a cause of bowed legs, knock knees, and weak bones. Adding the vitamin to milk in the 1930s helped to nearly eliminate the disorder. Vitamin D  And Diabetes
Some studies have shown a link between a low vitamin D level and type 2 diabetes -- the more common version of this blood sugar disorder. So, can boosting your vitamin D levels help ward off the disease? There's not enough proof for doctors to recommend taking this supplement to prevent type 2 diabetes. Excess body fat may play a role in diabetes and low levels of vitamin D.

Vitamin D And Weight Loss
Studies have shown that people who are obese often have low blood levels of vitamin D. Body fat traps vitamin D, making it less available to the body. It's not clear whether obesity itself causes a low vitamin D level or if it's the other way around. But one small study of dieters suggests that adding vitamin D to a calorie-restricted diet may help overweight people with low vitamin D levels lose weight more easily.

Low D And DepressionVitamin D plays a role in brain development and function. One promising study showed that large doses of vitamin D could lessen the symptoms of mild depression. But other studies show mixed results. The best bet is to talk with your doctor about whether vitamin D could ward off the symptoms of depression.

How Does Sun Give You  Vitamin D ?When the sun shines on bare skin, your body makes its own vitamin D. This is the major source of vitamin D, but it's not enough for many people. Fair-skinned people might get enough in 5-10 minutes on a sunny day, a few times a week. But cloudy days, the low light of winter, and the use of sun block (important to avoid skin cancer) all interfere. Older people and those with darker skin tones don't make as much from sun exposure. Experts say it's better to rely on food and supplements.
Dining With Vitamin DMany of the foods we eat have no naturally occurring vitamin D. Fish such as salmon, swordfish, or mackerel is one big exception -- and can provide a healthy amount of vitamin D in one serving. Other fatty fish such as tuna and sardines have some "D," but in much lower amounts. Small amounts are found in egg yolk, beef liver, and fortified foods like cereal and milk. Cheese and ice cream do not usually have added vitamin D.
 Start Your Day With Vitamin DChoose your breakfast foods wisely, and you can get a substantial amount of vitamin D. Most types of milk are fortified, including some soy milks. Orange juice, cereal, bread, and some yogurt brands also commonly have added vitamin D. Check the labels to see how much "D" you're getting.
Vitamin D SupplementsFor people who want to take vitamin D in pill form, there are two kinds: D2 (ergocalciferol), which is the type found in food, and D3 (cholecalciferol), which is the type made from sunlight. They're produced differently, but both can raise vitamin D levels in your blood. Most multivitamins have 400 IU of vitamin D. Check with your health care provider for the best supplements for your needs.

Are You Vitamin D Deficient?Problems converting vitamin D from food or sunshine can set you up for a deficiency. Factors that increase your risk include:
Age 50 or older
Dark skin
A northern home
Overweight, obese, gastric bypass surgery
Milk allergy or lactose intolerance
Liver or digestive diseases, such as Crohn's disease or celiac
Symptoms of "D" DeficiencyMost people with low blood levels of vitamin D don't notice any symptoms. A severe deficiency in adults can cause soft bones, called osteomalacia (shown here). Testing Your Vitamin D LevelThere's a simple blood test used to check your vitamin D level, called the 25-hydroxyvitamin D test. Current guidelines by the Institute of Medicine set a blood level of 20 nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL) as a goal for good bone health and overall health. However, some doctors say people should go higher, to about 30 ng/mL to get the full health benefits of vitamin D.
How Much Vitamin D Do You Need?The recommended dietary allowance for vitamin D is 600 IU (international units) per day for adults up to age 70. People aged 71 and older should aim for 800 IU from their diet. Some researchers recommend much higher doses of vitamin D, but too much vitamin D can hurt you. Above 4,000 IU per day, the risk for harm rises, according to the Institute of Medicine.
Daily "D" for Breast-feeding BabiesBreast milk is best, but it doesn't have much vitamin D. Breastfed babies need 400 IU of vitamin D until they're weaned to fortified formula and can drink at least one liter (about 4 ¼ cups) every day. Starting at age 1, babies drinking fortified milk no longer need a vitamin D supplement. Be careful not to give too much vitamin D to babies. High doses can cause nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, excessive thirst, muscle aches, or more serious symptoms.
Vitamin D for Older ChildrenMost children and adolescents don't get enough vitamin D from drinking milk. They should have a supplement with 400 IU to 600 IU. That amount is often included in chewable multivitamins. Children with some chronic diseases such as cystic fibrosis may be at increased risk for vitamin D deficiency. Talk to your child's doctor about the need for extra vitamin D.
How Much Is Too Much Vitamin D?Some researchers suggest taking far more vitamin D than the 600 IU daily guideline for healthy adults. But too much be dangerous. Very high doses of vitamin D can raise your blood calcium level, causing damage to blood vessels, heart, and kidneys. The Institute of Medicine sets the upper tolerable limit at 4,000 IU of vitamin D per day. You can't get too much vitamin D from the sun. Your body simply stops making more. But sun exposure without sunscreen can raise your risk of skin cancer.
Drugs That Interact With  Vitamin DSome drugs cause your body to absorb less vitamin D. These include laxatives, steroids, anti-seizure and anti-cholesterol medicines. If you take digoxin, a heart medicine, too much vitamin D can raise the level of calcium in your blood and lead to an abnormal heart rhythm. It's important to discuss your use of vitamin D supplements with your doctor or pharmacist.
Vitamin D and Colon CancerIt's too soon to make a strong case for vitamin D as an overall cancer-fighter. But newer studies suggest that people with higher levels of vitamin D in their blood may have a lower risk for colon cancer.

Vitamin D and Other CancersHeadlines tout vitamin D as a way to prevent breast and prostate cancer. But researchers don't yet have enough evidence to say that the benefits are real. And, vitamin D may boost the risk of pancreatic cancer. The VITAL Study -- a Harvard university study -- of vitamin D and omega-3 is following 20,000 volunteers to find answers. In the meantime, a healthy body weight, regular exercise, and the diet guidelines of the American Cancer Society may help prevent cancer.
Vitamin D and Heart DiseaseLow levels of vitamin D have been linked to a greater risk of heart attack, stroke, and heart disease. Still, it's not clear whether boosting vitamin D will reduce heart risks and how much vitamin D is needed. Very high levels of vitamin D in the blood can actually harm blood vessels and the heart by increasing the amount of calcium in the bloodstream.
A Factor in Dementia?Older people are more likely to have vitamin D levels that are too low. Researchers found that older people with vitamin D deficiency performed poorly on tests of memory, attention, and reasoning compared to people with enough vitamin D in their blood. Still, better studies are needed to learn if vitamin D supplements could prevent dementia or slow mental decline

I persist until I succeed
I realize that success comes to those that persist. I can accomplish any goal, provided I continue until it is completed. I am able to persevere and succeed.

When I am struggling to find success, I remember that persistence is the most important component of any achievement. I am able to easily endure the inevitable setbacks that come from pursuing important goals. I find that obstacles are merely small bumps in the road.

Great things can take time to accomplish, but they are worth the effort.

In all aspects of my life, I show a dogged determination that ensures victory. I am able to stick to my plans and accomplish my goals.
Each success increases my ability to make it through challenging situations and paves the way for more victories.
I am able to push forward, whatever the challenge. If I do find my determination waning, I easily remember all the times I have experienced success. I am instantly filled with confidence. Success is certain to come as long as I keep moving forward.
My ability to persist and succeed is increasing. I am pleased when I review my progress. I feel more confident and capable.
Today, I am committed to staying the course and achieving success. I am a highly successful individual because I persist until I succeed. I feel wonderful and I have great expectations for the future.

Chen Si - Saving People from Suicide

A man named Chen Si dedicates every weekend of his life at China's Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge (the World's #1 suicide site) and saves people from jumping. He has saved 321 people in 13 years. Chen Si rents a two-bedroom flat so that those in need could have a place to stay after being saved from the bridge. The flat costs 1,000 yuan ($145) a month. Two-thirds of the cost is covered by donations and Chen pays the rest. With a monthly salary of 4,000 yuan ($578), he spends half of the money on his volunteer work and hands the rest to his wife.

Story: Midnight Travel

"In March 2008, I was returning to my home town Muzaffarabad alongwith my family after attending a wedding ceremony in Rawalpindi. It was midnight and the roads were deserted. A group of dacoits fired at our car while trying to stop us. A bullet entered my neck and stopped half way resulting in a spinal cord injury leaving me paralyzed neck downwards affecting all four limbs (Quadripegia). 

I was a 3rd year MBBS student at that time. All the medical and surgical treatments were provided that added little benefit to my condition. After realizing the implications of this incurable condition, I decided not to let my physical limitations defeat me in achieving the goals that I had set for my life. I vividly remember the time when I tried to study my Pharmacology book while lying down in hospital bed just a few days after my injury…..

 Life was not the same anymore & each day placed a new challenge before me but I was determined to fight. I was discharged from hospital after about 5 weeks and was brought home when I couldn't even hold my neck. I had no grip in my hands so my mother became my full time caretaker helping me with eating, bathing dressing etc. I had lost my bladder & bowel control so I started using catheter & diapers. It was a very hard time for me as well as for my family. Almighty gave us the courage and with the help of my family & friends I resumed my studies in the very unfeasible physical conditions. I couldn't even sit straight when I joined my college in a reclined wheelchair. I couldn't use my hands to hold or to open a book or to turn its pages and my family and friends started assisting me with that.

 Against all the odds, God started creating paths for me and I completed my MBBS degree without wasting a single academic year and I became Dr Anam Najam. I then continued my post graduate studies & completed my specialization in Psychiatry. Thus, I became the first Quadriplegic Psychiatrist from Pakistan. I move around in a motorized wheelchair, work in a hospital, write with the help of assisted devices though I need two persons to transfer me from bed to wheelchair, wheelchair to car and vice versa.. I am writing it briefly here as no words can justifiably depict the whole journey.

I'm sharing my story with all of you to extend my message of hope… Stop waiting for a miracle and start striving! A hard battle is not an excuse to quit."

6 Ways to Destress After a Long Day

When you've had a rough day at work, it's hard not to let that edgy, exhausted feeling ruin the rest of your evening. But if you don't find a way to recover from that stress, it will rob you of your leisure time, impact your relationships, ruin your eating habits and disrupt your sleep. Finding a way to de-stress at the end of each day is vital if you want to enjoy your life away from the office. Here are several options that might serve you well.

Does meditation really work? Researchers from Johns Hopkins University recently sorted through nearly 19,000 meditation studies and found 47 trials that met their criteria for "well-designed studies." They published their findings in JAMA Internal Medicine, concluding that mindfulness meditation can help ease psychological stresses like anxiety, depression, and pain. Even a few minutes of mindfulness meditation at the end of your workday can help you shift gears and welcome the rest of your day.


Adult coloring books are experiencing a popularity surge at the moment. Coloring is meditative, creative, and nostalgic all at the same time, and there's something wonderfully satisfying about transforming a line drawing into a colorful work of art. If you have a smartphone with a large, high-resolution display, such as the Galaxy S7, with its 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen, download a free coloring app and you'll be able to take coloring breaks wherever you are.


If your workdays are stressful because of serious problems with your boss or co-workers, it may be difficult to escape into meditation or soothe yourself by coloring mandalas. If that's the case, you may want to process each day's events in a journal after work. This approach works best if you can journal before you even leave the office, either at your desk or sitting in your car in the parking garage. Limit your writing time to between five and 10 minutes, or set a goal of filling three pages if that's easier. Once you've written about the day, drive home with some music on and try to let it go until tomorrow.
Not only will your journal give you a chance to express your emotions, it will also help you think through your options and will act as a record of exactly what happened and when.

Create Some Space

Give yourself a break of 20 or 30 minutes after work to ease into your at-home personality. Turn your phone off completely (this is a good time to put it on the charger) and don't turn on the TV. Listen to music. Make tea. Do yoga. Read. Create some rituals around whatever relaxes you and helps your soul feel nourished. This may sound impossible if you don't live alone, but if you explain to your family that you need time to get in a better mood after work, they'll get used to the idea. Make a point of greeting your partner and/or children with eye contact and hugs before you disappear for a few minutes, so they'll feel validated. They'll quickly learn that the rest of the evening is more fun for everyone if they give you the time and space you need.


Exercise helps burn off feelings of anger and stress that accumulate during the day. A 10-minute walk after work is enough to make you feel rejuvenated, especially if you can walk in a natural setting. If you have access to a wooded area, take advantage of the Japanese concept of "forest bathing." Forest bathers spend time under a forest canopy to improve their overall sense of well-being, lower stress, and boost their mood and ability to focus.


Many people swear by the power of water to relieve stress. Some unwind under a long hot shower, some soak their feet, and others take a bath. Add some lavender scent or Epsom salts to the water to enhance the relaxation factor. If you are lucky enough to have access to a swimming pool or hot tub, see if that works for you.
You may not be able to avoid stress in your job, but you don't have to let workday stress destroy your personal time. Use these techniques to leave stress behind and enjoy your life away from the office.
