Personal Change

When you do not upset yourself thinking about how others must change and instead you concentrate on your own change, good things start to happen.
First, you will feel better about yourself. Second, you will start to have positive feelings towards others and start to understand them. Third, others start having a more positive attitude towards you.
There are many hidden benefits in personal change.

If you start it, finish it… or forget it

A task left undone remains undone in two places – at the actual location of the task, and inside your head. Incomplete tasks in your head consume the energy of your attention as they gnaw at your conscience. They siphon off a little more of your personal power every time you delay. No need to be a perfectionist, that’s debilitating in an imperfect world, but it’s good to be a ‘completionist’. If you start it, finish it…or forget it.

Pomegranates are renowned for the amount of antioxidants they contain, providing a whole range of health benefits. In fact, it’s quite commonplace for people to drink pomegranate juice regularly. What’s more is that scientific studies have shown that it can assist active adults and athletes with their athletic performance. Let’s take a closer look at this truly amazing fruit:
1. Pomegranates have been cultivated for thousands of years, and had a significant role in cultures from ancient China and India, to the societies that inhabited the shores of the Mediterranean. In fact, the pomegranate is somewhat synonymous with the latter region.
2. Each part of a pomegranate contains valuable nutrients and antioxidants:
  • Juice - quercetin, anthocyanins, vitamin C, ellagic acid, gallic acid, catechin.
  • Seeds - linolenic acid (CLA), linolenic acid, oleic acid, punicic acid.
  • Peel and pulp - quercetin, gallagic acid, kaempferol, punicalagin
  • Roots and bark - gallic acid, punicotannic acid, mannite, pelletierine, n-methylisopelletierine.
  • Flower - oleanolic acid, ursolic acid, anthocyanins

3. The outer parts of the fruit are normally consumed as extracts, whereas the juice and seeds are the parts that we usually eat and drink.
4. The antioxidants in pomegranates work in different ways to boost health and athletic performance.

Our muscles during exercise
Depending on the intensity of a workout, our body undergoes varying degrees of stress. Muscle tissues, cells and the central nervous system are all affected.
Exercise-induced stress or oxidative stress means that normal bodily functions are compromised as a result of physical exertion. This results in the release of inflammatory chemicals, increased lactic acid levels, discomfort and decreased energy.

Pomegranate juice helps athletes and active adults to train with less fatigue and discomfort, so it is a popular fluid for them to drink in order to improve their workouts.

So how does pomegranate juice help?

The abundance of polyphenols, quercetin and nitrates found in pomegranate have been scientifically proven to improve exercise performance and muscular strength.

Polyphenols are phytochemicals that are found in plant-based food sources. They are also known as phenolics and are what give pomegranates their vibrant color. Polyphenols reduce inflammation and protect the cardiovascular system. An example of a polyphenol in pomegranate juice is gallic acid, which improves muscle recovery and strength.

Pomegranates are also rich in quercetin, which is a naturally-occurring bioflavonoid shown to reduce inflammation, remove toxins, and decrease bodily cellular damage. Furthermore, this substance also contributes to muscle recovery and improved exercise performance.

Another nutrient that pomegranates are rich in is nitrates, which also help with athletic performance. Once consumed, nitrates turn into nitric oxide in the body. Nitric oxide dilates the blood vessels and increases oxygen delivery to working muscles, in turn having a positive impact on cardiorespiratory performance and muscle function.

The research backing up all of the above

The athletes under observation were Olympic weightlifters. Seeing as the sport involves intense training that’s usually followed by several days of weakness and soreness, the athletes who practice it seemed like the perfect candidates to study the effect of pomegranate juice on muscle recovery.

Nine elite weightlifters volunteered for the study. Eligible volunteers were required to have at least three years of training experience and train at least five times per week, with a session duration of 90-120 minutes each time. All of the selected weightlifters were in good health, free of injury and not taking antioxidants or anti-inflammatory drugs during the month prior to the testing period.

Their vital signs were recorded prior to the start of the experiment, and then they were given a placebo followed by separate training using pomegranate juice supplementation. The weightlifters were made to drink 750ml of pomegranate juice two days before the research started, and continued drinking such an amount throughout its entirety.

The results showed that pomegranate juice improved systolic blood pressure both during and after training. Systolic blood pressure measures the pressure in the blood vessels as the heart is beating. The juice seemed to have a positive effect on heart rate and glucose readings. It also reduced blood serum biomarkers, which are usually indicative of muscle injury when they return high values.

Other Health Benefits of Pomegranate Juice
1. It fights cancer
Research has shown that the antioxidants in pomegranates inhibit cancer cell growth and the progression of both breast and prostate cancer.

2. It improves heart health
Regular consumption of pomegranate juice is said to reduce the incidence of atherosclerosis, improve blood pressure, and reduce cholesterol levels. In other words, the juice has a cardio protective effect

3. It’s a hormone replacement therapy alternative
Seeing as it’s a rich source of polyphenols, pomegranate consumption is a much safer alternative to hormone replacement therapy, which reduces the risk of breast cancer.

3 Ways People Use CC in Emails for Office Politics
Using “cc” (carbon copy) on email, a seemingly harmless tool has become a weapon of passive aggressive office warfare. Here are 3 ways “cc” is used politically in the world of work.

1. CC for “e-tattling”.

Probably the most common strategy is including someones boss or a whole bunch of “higher ups” in the company to an email chain. The tactical purpose of this move is to cover ones back and to snitch on someone by including other people to bear witness to the electronic trail that provides evidence of that individuals inadequacy. This is also referred to as “cowards copy”.

2. CC to force a response.

There is that person that constantly cc’s your boss (and the whole world) every time they make a request, demonstrating that they do not trust you to respond timeously or to make you look bad if you turn down the request. In addition, this tactic also serves to escalate a matter in an underhanded manner.

3. CC for shameless self-promoting.

Individuals who want to look smart and busy to senior managers go out of their way to cc people unnecessarily. This tactic is particularly effective when the emails are sent out late at night or early in the morning to show commitment and provide visibility for their “hard work”.
What has been your experience with this?

Clarity: Eighty percent of success comes from being clear on who you are, what you believe in and what you want.

Competence: You can't climb to the next rung on the ladder until you are excellent at what you do now.

Constraints: Eighty percent of all obstacles to success come from within. Find out what is constraining in you or your company and deal with it.

Concentration: The ability to focus on one thing single-mindedly and see it through until it's done takes more character than anything else.

Creativity: Flood your life with ideas from many sources. Creativity needs to be exercised like a muscle; if you don't use it you'll lose it.

Courage: Most in demand and least in supply, courage is the willingness to do the things you know are right.

Continuous Learning: Read, at the very least, one book a week on business to keep you miles ahead of the competition. And just as you eat and bathe, organize your time so you spend 30 minutes a day exploring email, sending messages, going through websites, because like exercise, it's the only way you can keep on top of technology. If you get away from it, you'll lose your edge.

Unnecessary Doubts.

A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles.

The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets.
The girl agreed. The boy kept the biggest in the most beautiful marble aside in gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised. That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn't sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble.

If you don't give your hundred percent in a relationship, you'll always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her hundred percent.

More than once in our lives are we faced with a situation where hardships seem to fill our day, and everything feels bleak and hopeless. It is during those times that it is important to remember these ten undeniable truths:
1. Pain helps you grow
What doesn’t kill you – makes you stronger. The old saying encapsulates this truth but forgets to mention one thing; To be able to overcome pain, you must embrace it and allow it to pass over you. If you try to ignore the pain, you’ll end up losing a part of yourself, a part that is very difficult to reconnect with later. Accept the hardship, explore your pain, and once the waves of sadness die down, you will be given a new lease on life.
2. Fears are an illusion
Fears will only get stronger if you let it. You are always in control of your fear, so don’t let it control you back. Fear can serve you, by keeping you alert in dangerous situations, but unless physical harm may come to you or your loved ones – you must let fear know who’s boss.
3. Nothing lasts forever
Love, pain, troubles, success – it is all transitory. Take joy in the good times, and accept the bad times, for they, too, shall pass.
4. Struggles are nothing more than steps on the way to success
When you’re pursuing your dreams, remember that patience does not mean inaction. Patience means staying on track, and using each struggle as a stepping stone to realizing your dreams. It’s not going to be easy, but it will always be educating.
5. “Good” and “bad” depend on your outlook
Life is a billion shades of gray, some darker, some lighter, but it’s never black or white. You may think that something you’re doing is good, but if you end up tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep, it means that your conscious doesn’t necessarily agrees. People aren’t bad, but they can do bad things. Always try and understand why the person opposite you is doing what they’re doing. They are also going through a struggle you may not be able to see.
6. Change only that which you can change
You are the sum of your experience, and you cannot change that. You can, however, change your perspective of those experiences. Try looking at “bad” experiences from another point of view, and you might realize that they weren’t all that bad to begin with.
7. Treat yourself with kindness
Accepting yourself and knowing you’re doing your best is good enough. If you have a tendency of self-deprecation, consider how you’d feel if someone else told you these things. Be good to yourself and you’ll start to feel a difference. Remember to forgive yourself.
8. Nothing truly great is instant
If you could have everything you wanted instantly, you’d lose your drive to grow, and things that don’t grow end up decaying and dying away. Practice patience, and enjoy the ride.
9. Remember: Life’s an adventure
Take risks, it’ll make you more creative, and give you more confidence. Even if you fail a couple of times, get up and try again. Get out of your comfort zone and you just might find true happiness…
10. Have humility
Humility can bring the understanding that problems are not as difficult as you perceive them to be. Being overconfident is as bad as being paralyzed with fear – but knowing yourself and what it is that you’re capable of will give you a sense of ownership over your accomplishments, yet keep you humble and provide you with clarity.

A company wanted to set up a pension plan. In order for the plan to be installed, it needed 100% participation. Everyone signed up except John. The plan made sense and was in the best interest of everyone. John not signing was the only obstacle. John's supervisor and other co-workers had tried to persuade him without success.

The owner of the company called John into his office and said, "John, here is a pen and these are the papers for you to sign to enroll into the pension plan. If you don't enroll, you are fired this minute." John signed right away. The owner asked John why he hadn't signed earlier. John replied, "No one explained the plan quite as clearly as you did."

Remedies for Restless Leg Syndrome!

According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, restless leg syndrome (RLS) affects around 15% of Americans. When RLS is a symptom of another medical problem, treating that condition will usually help clear it up. Furthermore, RLS can also be a side effect of certain medications. However, the cause of this condition is not always clear. Thankfully, there are a number of home remedies for RLS and 8 of them can be seen below.
1. Exercise and Relaxation
Do some moderate exercise every day. A brisk 30-minute walk each day is not only good for your legs, but it’s also good for your overall health. Some leg stretches may also be particularly helpful for this condition.
Stress and muscle tension can also trigger RLS symptoms, so try to get some relaxation time in before going to bed. Meditation, yoga, and tai chi are great ways to relax the body and mind to reduce tension.
2. Heat, Cold, Massage
One home remedy for RLS is the application of warm and cool packs to the muscles. Some people find that alternating heat and cold eases the pain and achiness associated with the condition. You can also relax the muscles in your legs by soaking in a warm bath and massaging your legs.
3. Sleep Environment
RLS interferes with sleep and causes fatigue. One way to break this cycle is to stick to a tight sleep schedule. For example, go to bed at the same time every night and get up at the same time each morning.
You could also create a bedtime routine that involves doing something relaxing before going to bed. Such as taking a warm bath, meditating, or reading a book. Think about your sleep environment and consider removing digital clocks and electronics that glow. Invest in comfortable linens and make your bedroom an oasis for rest and relaxation.
4. Vitamins and Minerals
In some cases, deficiencies of certain minerals and vitamins, such as iron, magnesium, folic acid, and vitamin B may cause RLS. Before you increase your use of dietary supplements (or start taking them), talk to your doctor.
In the case of vitamins, it’s certainly possible to get too much of a good thing. Getting a blood test done will help determine what vitamins and minerals you’re lacking. Your doctor can prescribe the correct supplements and a safe dosage.
5. Over-the-Counter Medications
If you’re occasionally experiencing mild to moderate pain, you can use over-the-counter pain relievers and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that include:
• Acetaminophen
• Ibuprofen
• Naproxen
• Ketoprofen
Keep in mind that long-term use of NSAIDs can cause stomach upsets, bleeding, ulcers, and increased risk of heart problems.
6. Gabapentin
This is an anticonvulsant medication used to treat seizures that are caused by epilepsy. In extended-release form, gabapentin can be effective in the treatment of severe RLS. In epilepsy sufferers, it works by lowering abnormal excitement in the brain, but researchers aren’t sure how it works to relieve RLS symptoms. Potential side effects of this drug include:
• Headaches
• Fatigue
• Weight gain
• Nausea
• Difficulty breathing or swallowing
• Swelling of the throat and face
7. Other Prescription Medications
In severe cases of RLS, your doctor might recommend prescription medications to relieve pain. These medications can become addictive. Muscle relaxants and sleep aids may also help, but they don’t always relieve unpleasant leg sensations and can make you feel drowsy during the day.
Medication that is intended for other diseases such as Parkinson’s can also be helpful for RLS. Work with your doctor to find the best medication. It may take a few tries or combinations of remedies to ease your symptoms.
8. Avoid Potential Triggers
If you have RLS, avoid sitting in one position for too long. Get up and move about throughout the day. Furthermore, you should avoid food and drinks that contain caffeine, such as:
• Tea
• Coffee
• Soft drinks
• Chocolate
To add to this, alcohol and tobacco can trigger RLS or make symptoms worse. Try not consuming these things for a few weeks to see if you feel better.

When you go for any interview, the most basic thing you have to remember is that the interviewer also feels that he is interviewed by you. He also wants your good opinion like you who wants his good opinion. So think very positively within you about the interviewer, feel admiration for him and then that face of yours will perform the task of getting the positive atmosphere. What any employer today wants most is whether you bring the needed positive atmosphere into the organization; whether you contribute to the team energy or synergy. Your expertise is one of the plus points. But your positive presence is the most important point. Your presence must help the creativity of the colleagues. The habit of assuming mainly positive things about the person is the road to your and your team’s success.
But suppose the other person is totally negative. Then if possible avoid him. But suppose you cannot avoid him. Then remember Skinner’s theory of reinforcement. A person repeats what he has done only when he gets what he aims at. If he sees success, then he will persist. So, open your fangs and simply dissect him till any idea of success and reinforcement vanishes from him. Never give reinforcement to a negative person. Never, never, never underestimate your fighting capacity. Become the ant that never gives up. An ant was Bismarck’s guru.

SO ALWAYS SMILE, WHETHER YOU ARE CONVERSING OR QUARRELING OR FIGHTING. Remember that any bitter person who succeeds temporarily ultimately cowers, because bitterness corrodes one’s personality. A person who gives biting statements is wasting his life in cultivating bitterness only and he will be the ugliest person ultimately to everyone. Never admire a man with a scowl on his face. You lose your own self esteem as a result.

But when you go for an interview or meet new people or friends or relatives, always assume that the other person is good and noble. Then your body language takes over. After all 67 per cent of communication is by body language and the remaining is a mixture of good and bad feelings in editing, censorship etc—the realm of words. Your body cannot tell a lie. But you also cannot tell truth completely by means of words—you censor, edit, control, and speak less or too much. The best method of communication is just smiling after deliberately thinking that the other person is noble. Silence with a positive smile is most successful communication.

True determination is a combination of single-mindedness and flexibility. When we are sure of what we need to achieve, we are able to move toward it. When we find an obstacle in our way, we are able to take it in our stride.
Like a river cuts its own path through the land, each of us is able to create our own route toward our destination.
