10 Reasons to Power Nap

1. Increased productivity

2. An energy boost without stimulants

3. Clarity of thought

4. Increased alertness

5. Safety

6. Improved memory

7. Elevated mood

8. More creativity

Power naps also work to counter the negative effects of stress and everyday anxiety. Researchers found that the restful breathing we do during sleep relaxes tension in our backs and shoulders and lowers our blood pressure. Some people find they’re not able to nap at work, but they can get away with meditating. Although not as powerful as a nap, meditation produces slower brain waves, similar to those produced during sleep, which reduce stress and clear the mind.

Story: The Father Guides

Many years ago, a newlywed young man was sitting on a couch on a hot, humid day, sipping frozen juice during a visit to his father.

As he talked about adult life, marriage, responsibilities, and obligations, the father thoughtfully stirred the ice cubes in his glass and cast a clear, sober look on his son.

"Never forget your friends," he advised, "they will become more important as you get older."

"Regardless of how much you love your family and the children you happen to have, you will always need friends. Remember to go out with them occasionally, do activities with them, call them ..."

"What strange advice!" Thought the young man. "I just entered the married world, I am an adult and surely my wife and the family that we will start will be everything I need to make sense of my life."

Yet he obeyed his father; Kept in touch with his friends and annually increased their number. Over the years, he became aware that his father knew what he was talking about.

Inasmuch as time and nature carry out their designs and mysteries on a man, friends were the bulwarks of his life.

After 50 years of life, here is what he learned:

Time passes.
Life goes on.
The distance separates.
Children grow up.
Children cease to be children and become independent. And to the parents it breaks the heart but the children are separated of the parents.
Jobs come and go.
Illusions, desires, attraction, sex ... weaken.
People do not do what they should do.
The heart breaks.
The parents die.
Colleagues forget the favors.
The races are over.

But, true friends are always there, no matter how long or how many miles they are.

A friend is never more distant than the reach of a need, barring you, intervening in your favor, waiting for you with open arms or blessing your life.

When we started this adventure called LIFE, we did not know of the incredible joys or sorrows that were ahead. We did not know how much we would need from each other.

Love your parents, take care of your children, but keep a group of good friends. Dialogue with them but do not impose your criteria.

Smile and You’ll Be Happier

When we get focused on getting some place or doing something, we usually reflect our level of concentration in our face. We project outwardly, with our expression, what is happening on the inside. A grimace, scowl, frown or smile sends a signal to those around us, and as a species we have learned to read them well and react accordingly.

A smile has the power to change, not just how we look on the outside, but how we feel on the inside. Lots of research supports the premise that smiling makes us feel better and helps those around us to feel better too. We are actually born smiling. It’s contagious for sure and smiling has got to be the least expensive form of self-therapy. It unleashes positive chemicals into our system and causes people around us to smile back.

To quote an article in Forbes a few years ago: “Why?” “Because smiling is evolutionarily contagious and we have a subconscious innate drive to smile when we see one. This occurs even among strangers when we have no intention to connect or affiliate with the other person. Mimicking a smile and experiencing it physically helps us interpret how genuine a smile is, so that we can understand the real emotional state of the smiler.”

A smile is the currency of a happier life. So use yours and create more smiles. It’s free and powerful and if you could see me this very second, you’d see I’m smiling right at you. :)

The Person Who is Stopping You

One day all the employees reached the office and saw a big advice written on the door.

"Yesterday the person who has been stopping your growth in this company passed away. You are invited to join the funeral."

In the beginning, they got sad for the death of one of their colleagues, but after a while they got curious to know who was the man who stopped their growth.

Everyone thought: 'Well at least the man who stopped my progress died!'

One by one the thrilled employees got closer to the coffin, and when they looked inside they were speechless. They stood shocked in silence, as if someone had touched the deepest part of their soul. There was a mirror inside the coffin and everyone who looked inside could see him/herself.

There was a sign next to the mirror that read:
"There is only one person who is capable to set limits to your growth...It is you. You are the only person who can influence your happiness, success and realization."

Your life does not change when your boss, friend or company changes.....your life changes when you change...you go beyond your limiting beliefs and you realize you are the only one responsible for your life.
It's the way you face life that makes the difference!

If an egg is broken from outside force....life ends but if it is broken from inside force life begins. Great things always begin from our inside.

Humor: Dont Butter the Boss

One day a man stopped Birbal on the street and began narrating his woes to him. 'I've walked twenty miles to see you, and all along the way people kept saying you were the most generous man in the country,' he told Birbal. Birbal knew the man was going to ask him for a favour. He replied, 'While going back on the same way, please deny the rumour of my generosity,' said Birbal, walking away.

Some Thoughts on Technology and Future

Predictions

1. Auto repair shops go away. A gasoline engine has 20,000 individual
parts. An electrical engine has 20. Electric cars are sold with
lifetime guarantees and are only repaired by dealers. It takes only 10
minutes to remove and replace an electric engine. Faulty electric engines are not repaired in the dealership but are sent to a regional repair shop that repairs them with robots. I am thinking....your electric engine malfunction light go on so you drive up to what looks like a Jiffy-auto wash, Your car is towed through while you have a cup of coffee and out comes your car with a new engine.

2. Gas stations go away. Parking meters are replaced by meters that dispense electricity. All companies install electrical recharging stations.

3. All major auto manufacturers have already designated 5-6 billions dollars each to start building new plants that only build electric cars.

4. Coal industries go away. Gasoline/oil companies go away. Drilling for oil stops.

5. Homes produce and store more electrical energy during the day and then they use and will sell it back to the grid. The grid stores it and dispenses it to industries that are high electricity users. A baby of today will only see personal cars in museums.

6- The FUTURE is approaching faster than one can handle!
In 1998, Kodak had 170,000 employees and sold 85% of all photo  paper worldwide. Within just a few years, their business model disappeared and they went bankrupt.  What happened to Kodak will happen in a lot of industries in the next 5-10 years and, most people won't see it coming. Did you think in 1998 that 3 years later you would never take pictures on film again? Yet digital cameras were invented in 1975. The first ones only had 10,000 pixels, but followed Moore 's law. So as with all exponential technologies, it was a disappointment for a time, before it became way superior and became mainstream in only a few short years. It will now happen again (but much faster) with Artificial Intelligence, health, autonomous and electric cars,
education, 3D printing, agriculture and jobs.

Welcome to the 4th Industrial Revolution. Welcome to the Exponential Age!!

7. Software will disrupt most traditional industries in the next 5-10 years.

8. Uber is just a software tool, they don't own any cars, and are now the biggest taxi company in the world.

9. Airbnb is now the biggest hotel company in the world, although they don't own any properties. 5. Artificial Intelligence: Computers become exponentially better in understanding the world. This year, a computer beat the best Go-player in the world, 10 years earlier than expected.

10. In the U..S., young lawyers already don't get jobs. Because of IBM's Watson, you can get legal advice (so far for more or less basic stuff) within seconds, with 90% accuracy compared with 70%accuracy when done by humans. So, if you study law, stop immediately. There will be 90% fewer lawyers in the future, only omniscient specialists will remain.

11. Insurance companies will have massive trouble because, with out accidents, the insurance will become 100x cheaper. Their car insurance business model will disappear. 10. Real estate will change. Because if you can work while you commute, people will move further away to live in a more beautiful neighborhood. 11. Electric cars will become mainstream about 2020. Cities will be less noisy because all new cars will run on electricity. 12. Electricity will become incredibly cheap and clean: Solar production has been on an exponential curve for 30 years, but you can now see the burgeoning impact. 13. Last year, more solar energy was installed worldwide than fossil. Energy companies are desperately trying to limit access to the grid to prevent competition from home solar installations, but that simply cannot continue - technology will take care of that strategy. 14. With cheap electricity comes cheap and abundant water. Desalination of salt water now only needs 2kWh per cubic meter(@ 0.25 cents). We don't have scarce water in most places, we only

Gibran's Voice - Pity the Nation

  • Pity the nation that is full of beliefs and empty of religion.
  • Pity the nation that wears a cloth it does not weave, eats a bread it does not harvest.
  • Pity the nation that acclaims the bully as hero, and that deems the glittering conqueror bountiful.
  • Pity a nation that despises a passion in its dream, yet submits in its awakening.
  • Pity the nation that raises not its voice save when it walks in a funeral, boasts not except among its ruins, and will rebel not save when its neck is laid between the sword and the block.
  • Pity the nation whose statesman is a fox, whose philosopher is a juggler, and whose art is the art of patching and mimicking.
  • Pity the nation that welcomes its new ruler with trumpeting, and farewells him with hooting, only to welcome another with trumpeting again.
  • Pity the nation whose sages are dumb with years and whose strong men are yet in the cradle.
  • Pity the nation divided into fragments, each fragment deeming itself a nation.

Build Your Self-Confidence with These Fun Activities

Build Your Self-Confidence with These Fun Activities

Self-confidence helps us believe that we can handle whatever task or challenge comes our way. We could all use a little more of that. However, it’s easy to get bogged down with reading and acquiring information. Many people are too busy planning, and lack the confidence, to take action. Planning is important, but if you fail to implement your plan, you won’t see results.

Try these activities and boost your confidence today:

1. Try getting specific. Are you confident in your ability to brush your teeth, tie your shoes, and drive a car? Probably so! You likely have more self-confidence than you realize.
  • List some situations where you’d like to feel more self-confident. Some examples might include dating situations, public speaking, meeting new people, being more assertive at work, or dealing with conflict.
2. Create a self-confidence blueprint. Take a few minutes and jot down about a half-page of notes regarding the specific situation where you desire greater self-confidence. How would you act? How would you look to others? How would you feel? Think about your body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, and breathing.
  • Ensure that you define and understand what self-confidence looks like to you. It’s difficult to accomplish “it” if you’re unsure what “it” is.
3. Everything is easier in hindsight. Imagine that you’ve already been through the situation in question. Visualize yourself being incredibly self-confident. Put in as much detail as possible. See yourself acting in accordance with the criteria you listed in the previous step.
  • Do this visualization at least once a day until it’s 100% believable to you. Then you can try out your newfound self-confidence during the situation in question. Avoid expecting perfection and focus on personal growth.
4. Get physical. Attempt to sit, walk, talk, and act like a confident person. Intentionally try to take on the physical characteristics of someone that’s brimming with self-confidence. Smile and stand up straight. Use good eye contact.
  • Before you realize it, this will become a habit. Your current physicality is merely a poor habit. Form a new, positive habit of using confident body language.
5. Stretch yourself. Come up with a list of activities that will stretch your confidence muscles. It can be little tasks that you find slightly uncomfortable. As they become more comfortable, you can concentrate on more difficult tasks.
  • Suppose you have a fear of approaching beautiful women. You could start out by going to the mall and saying “Hello!” to 25 beautiful women that pass by. The next day, you could ask 25 beautiful women for directions. The following day you can compliment 25 beautiful women, and so on.

Building self-confidence requires action

Take some time each day to work on your self-confidence. There are few things that will have a greater positive impact on your life than increasing the level of confidence you have in yourself.
Create an action plan and stick to it. Self-confidence can be very easy to build if you make the effort. A little work can result in huge rewards.

Today's Inspiration: The Great Enemy of Your Happiness and Peace

The great enemy of peace is ego. Ego makes you judge others and think about them in an unkind way. It makes you force others to do what you want. Change your ego by change the way you judge people:

Here are some points to be considered:

1- Be positive. Even if you notice any negative thing about someone. Don't conclude about it. There is a chance your brain is thinking against the reality. Don't let your brain cook bad curry. Explore the negative observation extensively but avoid spying on someone. Be straight and be upfront.

2- Physical appearance is not everything. Don't judge people by their looks. A person in normal clothes and in a normal vehicle might be better than a person in brand new Mercedes or BMW. On the contrary, a rich man can also be equally a great person.

3- When judging people look for the Ethical richness such as honesty, truthfulness, simplicity, behavior, friendliness, down-to-earth attitude etc.
4- A fly will always sit on the dirty and rotten part of the tomato. Never do this in your life. Every person has good and bad habits. Look at the positive side of things. If you feel something wrong, talk about it but don't spread negative info about someone. Hate the bad habit, not the person.

Happy Children's Day!

Inline image 1

The innocent giggles of our childhood that we broke into as we sat on a swing, hoping to reach the sky are lost in time. As we age, we grow more serious and eventually gloomy about the attitude we have towards our life.

Wise people have said that we must keep the child in us alive, even after we grow old.

Today, as we struggle to find ‘Fursat Ke Raat Din’ these 6 things that we all had in our childhood need to be brought back to life.

1. The ability to laugh at the smallest of things:
Remember how the most lame jokes made us roll on the floor laughing? Or how a silly puppet show was ‘fun’ for us? Over time, we lost our ability to laugh. It might be difficult but laughter, lights up your life almost immediately. Learn to laugh, again.

2. The innocence to believe in the impossible:
Now we don’t stretch our imagination. In our bid to become ‘practical’ and ‘logical’ towards life, we seem to have lost the power of innocence – the power to believe that should you wish, anything can be made possible. Who believed that humans could walk in the moon, a few centuries ago?

3. The trust we placed in our loved ones:
Almost every other person deals with trust issues today. As children, we had immense trust over our parents and our friends. We knew that they would be there for us and attend to our every need. It is important to know that sometimes, we are afraid to trust – it isn’t always that the other person is not trustworthy.

4. The belief in happy endings and saviours:
Endings can be happy. We can make them so. If you think that something didn’t turn out the way you expected it to, wait it out. Something better will happen in your life and make you feel that ‘everything happens for good’. We won’t see a happy ending, if we don’t believe in one.

5. The will to do something without any reason:
Enjoy the life. Relax. Not everything needs to have a reason to get done. And doing things without any reason will bring you out of the monotony of your life. Go, jump in the pool!

6. The knack to forgive and forget immediately:
A child never carries on grudges. Children are wiser than adults in many ways. The older we grow, the harder it becomes for us to forgive and forget. But you weren’t always like that. Forgive, so you can free yourself. Forget, because it is not worth it.

Planning to say hello again to the child in you? Help your friends too!

Chia Seeds are Awesome for Your Health !

Inline images 1
Chia seeds are higher in Omega-3 than flax seeds and easier to digest than falxseed when whole. But if you grind flaxseed before eating it will digest normally.

Below is a brief about them:
Chia seeds are tiny seeds which are packed with essential fatty acids, protein, fiber and many health-protective antioxidants. In fact, weight for weight, these super-seeds provide twice the protein of any other seed or grain, five times the calcium of milk, and an inexpensive, safe and high quality source of omega-3 fatty acids.

The Importance of omega-3
Omega-3 is one of the "essential fatty acids" we need in our diets. It is essential because our bodies cannot manufacture it - it has to be obtained from our diet.
Fish is a great dietary source of omega-3, but sea life has been exposed to many toxins. Flax seeds or flax seed oil is a good inexpensive, safe source of omega-3, but chia seeds are more convenient and even higher in omega-3, and are also more easily digestible when whole, than flax seeds.

Chia Seed Benefits
Chia seeds, in the same way as flax seeds, react when mixed with water to form a kind of glutinous solution, like a gel. They act in the same way in the gut, which is another reason why they are good for you. They benefit the digestive system by providing both a high amount of fiber, and also this action of forming a gel like solution moves through the body and cleans up as it goes. It's also thought that this gel physically prevents the fast breaking down of carbohydrates in the body, by slowing down the action of the enzymes on the carbohydrates.

Chia seeds contain 19 amino acids, with all of the essential amino acids except taurine. They also contain more iron than spinach, more calcium than milk and even more antioxidants than blueberries, weight for weight.

How to Eat chia seeds

Chia seeds can be ground up and added to just about anything, like water, fresh juices, smoothies. They can also be sprouted in the same way as alfalfa seeds and used in salads.
But unlike flax seeds, chia seeds don't have to be ground for consumption - they can be chewed whole. And unlike ground flax seeds, chia seeds don't deteriorate rapidly.
Because they absorb water so much, chia seeds will help you feel full longer.
Even eating the seeds or drinking them with a beverage will form a gel in the stomach which is up to 90% fiber. This is useful as an overall digestive and elimination aid.
Chia seeds are available from health food stores and the seeds last a long time, so they can be bought and stored in quality.

if  you forward it, it is an investment!

Contentment & Discontentment

alt

First of all, understand discontentment. Discontent is caused by a constant multiplication of desires.
One desire leads to another until there's never a moment when you feel fulfilled.
Desires are like traps.
Because of endless desires relationships have become very fragile. There is a lot of irritability and anger due to:
• Selfish attachments (to possessions and people)
• Pride (attachment to a particular image of the self)
When there is discontentment, the heart can never be still & peaceful because wasteful, negative thoughts destroy peace.
Contentment is the result of spiritual awareness which allows you to recognize negativity. It changes your pattern of thinking. As you tap your huge inner potential, all desires are fulfilled and you regain your peace.
