In our day and age, people interact through social media apps more than they do in real life. While that’s a real problem for most, especially that the average person spends two hours per day on social media, it proved useful for many people who used to opportunity to gain fame and become Instagram famous. As appealing as it may look, the idea of becoming among those social celebrities bounces between many advantages and a good deal of drawbacks. So, is
becoming famous on Instagram worth it?

Instafame: Pros

Recognition
To satisfy their egos, people tend to do anything to get fame and recognition from both their peers and strangers alike. That’s just how our mind works. Getting likes, comments and engagement validates one’s actions and make them feel satisfied and happier. It’s a kind of addiction, so whenever you receive a new like, your mind releases dopamine which gives you a euphoric feeling. And the more people engage with you; the higher is your desire for more. Wouldn’t you like it if you had thousands of people following every step in your life, validating it and even sharing it with pride as if you achieved something even if all you did was take a picture?

Money
While many people seek fame for recognition, others do it for monetization. Did you know that Selena Gomez gets $xxx for every branded picture she posts? That’s a lot of money, and it indeed is a good goal to achieve. The Selena Gomez example may be exaggerating, but even if you’re a simple model, actor, trainer or any public figure, you can still earn a good amount selling shoutouts and featuring brands on your posts by becoming an Instagram influencer.

You get to live the dream life
This is a direct consequence of the money and fame. If you’re an Instagram celebrity, you get to conduct a luxurious life during which you can travel, meet new people and try new activities with ease. What’s even better is that you can get products for free, from clothes to jewelry and smartphones. So, the harder you work on getting more famous on Instagram, the more advantages you’ll get.

Even though it has appealing advantages, becoming Instagram famous still has some drawbacks that you should be aware of.

Instafame: Cons

It isn’t easy
Thomas Jefferson, the 3rd US president, says: “I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have.” Hard work is essential to achieving success in any industry. Becoming Instagram famous isn’t merely a matter of posting pictures or being pretty or fit. It’s a real job that people take seriously by spending hours to sharpen their skills, be it training, photography, or singing and to engage with their followers and provide quality content to them. It may seem easy, but isn’t, and you won’t get anywhere without persistence in this industry.

Privacy
You know what they say, “Once you go famous, and you can’t go back.” If you choose to become an Instagram celebrity, you’re most likely to lose all your privacy. Prepare yourself for people who want to take selfies with you at public places, people snappingphotographs of you while you’re shopping and in the most extreme case people insulting you and harassing you everywhere on the internet. If you’re so keen about your privacy, you better consider another r path for your life.

It isn’t cheap
Creating quality content can be costly. The top featured photos on Instagram aren’t simply taken by smartphones and cameras; they’re the craft of entire teams working to create unique posts that are bound to attract new followers. If you’re planning to be an Instagram celebrity and do it for a living, you better be prepared to spend some cash at the beginning to get you started as it’s hard to create an enormous amount of posts alone.

Verdict: Should you become Insta-Famous?
Simply put, we can’t answer that for you. If you’re planning to use Instagram as a tool and dedicated time and effort to get to your goals, then it’s well worth it. On the other hand, if your privacy is much precious for you than money and recognition, then it’s not for you. Do you think Instagram fame is worth it? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
