Powerful Habits for Developing a Growth Mindset for Success

In reality, all life is how our minds perceive it. We’ve all gone through different experiences that have led us to where we are today.

No matter what situation or event arises, it’s our past experiences and our outlook on life that will determine how we deal with situations.

However, what if we could harness that perception and our mindsets and train it in such a way, to such a stage, where we could inspire ourselves to get exactly what we wanted by making the right decisions in certain situations.
According to study by Carol Dweck, people who can develop their skills and talents, improve their productivity and motivation are the vein of gold for the huge amount of companies. Those people believe that hard work and practice can help them to move forward.

More commonly, this is known as a growth mindset. Unlike fixed mindset, growth mindset let us see the world wider and achieve more goals which lead to successful life.

Today, we’ll explore some of the most powerful habits you can develop to give yourself the gift of this mindset, allowing you to perceive the world around you as your oyster.

The Difference Between a Fixed Mindset & a Growth Mindset

There are plenty of types of mindset. However, the two main ones are Fixed and Growth. If, like the majority of the population, you have a fixed mindset, your attitude towards life means that you believe things are as they are.

Kora Lawson, a life coach and creator of Australian help, shares, “You believe that no matter what you do, everything will just happen and that you’re powerless to do anything to change what some call ‘the natural order of life”.

However, if you have a growth mindset, you believe the complete opposite. You believe that your experiences and the consequences of your past decisions have got you to where you are today, but the decisions you make now will shape your future.

With this knowledge in mind, you’ll be able to control your outcome and achieve your dreams as you’ll have the power to make every decision count.

Visualize Your Goals

One study, one of the most comprehensive willpower studies ever carried out by Walter Mischel, showed that the ability to focus on the thing you want the most, whether it’s success, fame, fortune or knowledge, will help you to achieve it.

In other words, by visualising exactly what you what, whether you’re drawing it or simply picturing it in your head, it can help you to achieve it. That’s because visualising your goal makes it seem much more real and much more attainable.

Imagine and picture how you feel when you achieve your goals and the positive feelings that will flood your body. Then, everything you do, make it one step towards achieving that goal.

James D. Garcia, a neuroscientist and writer at Academized, continues, “Mind sets are not fixed entities. That can change, they can be bent, manipulated, hurt, happy, sad, angry and content. Neuro studies have proven this time and time again. With active management of your mind, you’ll be able to tap into your untapped potential, giving yourself unlimited possibilities to succeed.”

Repel Negativity

One of the biggest influences in our lives in negativity. It stems from anywhere and everywhere. Whether you’re scrolling down your social media profiles or watching the news, there’s negative emotion everywhere.

If you decide to make a change in your life, such as quitting smoking, adopting a vegan diet or joining a gym, the chances are that you’re going to receive some negative comments from somebody.

Sam Simons, a motivational speaker and writer at Big Assignments, states, “Although some kinds of criticism can be helpful, more times than not, this is just negative energy from people that haven’t got the willpower to change themselves.”

Take what you want from people with this negative outlook on life, but don’t let it deter you from your goals.

Choose Your Words Carefully

There are over 170,000 words in the English language. So why do the majority of people only stick to using a select few of them? There are so many opportunities to express yourself and communicate a precision message to everyone we speak to, so, why don’t we?

Whether you’re talking to a complete stranger or your best friend, all that maintains a relationship with another human being is the words that you use. With words you can inspire people, you can help them to grow, you can nurture and develop their dreams, you can change their life for the better, all with the power of words.

The most successful people with growth mindsets will pick their words very carefully. You can do this by honing your writing skills, allowing you to form more complete and comprehensive sentences. As a guideline on practising your writing skills, check out Viawriting, Ukwritings and Academadvisor.

Goals, Not Dreams

We dream when we’re asleep. A dream seems like a far-off concept that we can only reach in our heads. Basically, if the thing you want most in life, whatever that may be, is a dream, the chances are that you’re not going to obtain it.

Instead, turn that dream into a goal, or a target. By setting yourself goals and targets, this will also help to make what you want a much more achievable and obtainable prospect. With your goals and targets so real, it’s only a matter of making it happen.
