Pic for demonstration only
Once upon a time in Scotland, there lived a poor farmer named Fleming. One day, while working hard in the fields to earn food for his family, he suddenly heard a cry for help.
He quickly ran toward the sound and found a young boy stuck deep in the mud of a bog. The boy was terrified and screaming. Without thinking twice, Farmer Fleming rushed in and pulled him out, saving him from a slow and frightening death.
The very next day, a grand carriage arrived at Fleming’s small home. Out stepped a nobleman, finely dressed, who introduced himself as the boy’s father.
“You saved my son’s life,” the nobleman said. “I want to repay you.”
But Farmer Fleming shook his head. “No, I can’t take payment for what I did.”
Just then, Fleming’s own little boy came to the doorway.
“Is that your son?” the nobleman asked.
“Yes,” said Fleming with pride.
The nobleman smiled. “Let me give him the same education my son will have. If he is like his father, he will surely grow into a man we will both be proud of.”
And so it happened. Farmer Fleming’s son went on to study at the best schools and later graduated from St. Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London. He became famous around the world as Sir Alexander Fleming — the man who discovered penicillin, the medicine that has saved millions of lives.
Years later, the nobleman’s son — the very boy who was rescued from the bog — fell seriously ill with pneumonia. And what medicine saved him? Penicillin.
The nobleman’s name was Lord Randolph Churchill. His son’s name was Winston Churchill, who later became one of the greatest leaders in history.
This story reminds us: what goes around truly comes around.
