Like water resting in a quiet lake, its surface unbroken and smooth, our minds too have the potential to reflect great clarity. When water is agitated—by wind, by falling stones, or by hurried movement—it loses its ability to reflect the world above and around it. The trees seem distorted, the sky fractured, the image unclear.

In the same way, the human mind, when restless or disturbed by fear, anger, stress, or endless thinking, cannot perceive truth accurately. Its perceptions become twisted, exaggerated, or misaligned with reality. Thoughts race like ripples on the surface, distorting the deeper understanding that lies beneath.

But when the mind becomes still—free from distractions, free from judgment, and released from the pull of past regrets or future anxieties—it becomes a pure mirror. In this rare state of inner silence, the truth of the Self is revealed, undistorted and serene. One sees not only the world with new clarity but also sees oneself in a more authentic, unmasked form.

Just as calm water requires no effort to reflect beauty, a tranquil mind requires no struggle to recognize wisdom, intuition, and peace. It simply allows.

So, to understand our true nature, to connect with our deeper consciousness, we must learn to calm the surface. Meditation, mindful breathing, solitude, and intentional slowing down are not escapes from life—they are paths inward, returning us to that mirror-like state.

Only in stillness can we truly see.
