What’s in Your Car Trunk?

Most of us keep the usual things in our car trunk — a spare tire, an umbrella, a gym bag, maybe an old grocery receipt or two. But what if that space could be used for something bigger… something that carries more than just utility?

What if your car trunk became a mobile source of kindness?

A Trunk With a Purpose

In my car trunk, you won’t just find tools or luggage — you’ll find T-shirts, trousers, prayer mats, perfumes, and small gifts. These aren’t for me. These are for someone I haven’t yet met.

Almost every other week, on my way home from work, I slow down near construction sites, roadside stalls, or low-income neighborhoods. I look for an opportunity to stop — and make a small difference in someone’s day.

Kindness Doesn’t Need a Budget

It doesn’t take much.
Spending 100 AED a month doesn’t make me poor.
And giving someone a clean shirt, a prayer mat, or a bottle of cologne doesn’t make them rich.

But every time they use that gift — maybe before a prayer, maybe at work, or maybe just to feel human again — they’ll smile. That’s my reward. That’s my silent achievement.

I may not know their names, but I know this: a small gesture, done with a pure heart, leaves a big imprint.

Teaching Through Action

I often take my kids with me on weekends to do this. We spend just 30 intentional minutes, walking through nearby neighborhoods, distributing whatever small items we’ve packed.

Sometimes it's a packet of food item (may be a biscuit!).
Sometimes it’s a toy.
Sometimes it’s just a kind word.

But for my children, these 30 minutes are more valuable than hours of lectures. They are watching compassion in motion. They are learning that no act of kindness is too small. They are learning that real wealth is in giving — not in what you own, but in what you share.

It’s Not About What You Give…

We often hold ourselves back, thinking:

“What difference can I make?”
“I don’t have enough.”
“What’s the point of giving something small?”

But God does not reward us based on the size of our pockets.
He rewards us based on the purity of our intentions.

Whether it’s paying for a child’s school fees, buying a cup of tea for a laborer, or simply giving your time and attention — it all counts.

So, What’s In Your Trunk?

Maybe it’s time we all ask ourselves that.

Can you keep a few extra bottles of water in there?
Some socks? A blanket? A couple of lunch boxes?
A few low-cost items that can become high-value moments for someone else?

We drive through life so fast — sometimes we forget to pause and bless someone else’s journey.

Final Thought

Your trunk doesn’t have to carry just your groceries.
It can carry your goodness, your generosity, and your intentions to make this world a little better — one stop at a time.

Because even if you change just one life…
That’s enough.
