As people age, they often enter a stage of life that feels like a “second childhood.” Sadly, what pains me most is seeing today’s generation adopting a carefree attitude—leaving their parents in old-age homes instead of standing by them.
When someone grows old, their physical and mental strength naturally decline. This is the time when they need care, patience, and a guiding hand the most. Yet many of today’s youth are so busy living a high-paced, modern lifestyle that they forget the elderly parents who wait quietly for a simple word of affection. These parents often sit in solitude, longing for someone to talk to them, to make them feel valued and loved.
I often hear people say that caring for the elderly is a burden. Whenever I hear this, I ask myself—what if your parents had thought the same about you when you were a child?
Sending money every month, whether from another city or abroad, cannot replace presence, companionship, and heartfelt care. Our parents need to feel that they still matter, that they are still wanted, and that life is worth living. Stand beside them—they had dreams for you, they sacrificed for you, and everything you are today is because of them.
Above all, look at your parents with love, respect, and gratitude. They deserve nothing less.
