Flavian Mwasi, Most Viewed Writer in Life Advice

Life has a billion dimensions and purposes. Every organism on earth has a purpose and that purpose is unique to that organism.
This includes all living things, plants, land animals, birds, fish, sea animals, insects, organisms, and micro-organisms.
Consider ants or termites for example.
They’re little insects that can build an anthill one million times their size using their sheer large numbers with nothing but their legs and teeth, clay, and saliva. That goes to show the power of purpose, especially unity of purpose.
All other organisms discover their purposes as soon as they’re born, except humans. Humans are not designed to discover their purposes automatically. They’re designed to use their unique, highly intelligent brains to discover their purposes. For this, they have to struggle all their lives to discover their purposes.
Some people discover that purpose early. Others discover that purpose much later in life. Some people pursue what they think is their purpose only to discover later that they were fulfilling other people’s purposes.

Is It Necessary To Have A Purpose?
Let us make one thing clear:

Purpose is different from a dream.

Let me elaborate. Whereas a dream is what you pursue for your own passion, career or interests, purpose is what you were designed to do.
Sometimes you discover your purpose by sheer accident. Sometimes you discover your purpose after a long struggle. Sometimes you don’t. Sometimes people spend all their lives fulfilling other people’s purposes. Sometimes people die without ever discovering their purposes.

We’re constantly searching for our life’s purpose whether we know it or not.
Before we continue, let me make a statement:
The greatest tragedy in life is not death. The greatest tragedy in life is living without a purpose.
Most people never bother to search for their purposes. As a result, they live a miserable life devoid of purpose.

What Is Purpose?

• Purpose is bigger than a dream
• Purpose is a calling
• Purpose is what you were designed to fulfill.
• Purpose is far greater than passion
• Purpose is your mission on earth
• Purpose is what you can do for free
• Purpose is what keeps you awake all night
• Purpose is what keeps you going no matter how broke.
• Purpose is what keeps you going no matter how discouraged you are
• Purpose is why you keep fighting for something
• Purpose is why you don’t want to give up
• Purpose is why you wake up every morning
• Purpose impacts many lives. Dreams impact an individual.
• Purpose influences many people
• Purpose inspires other people
• Purpose is about serving other people
• Purpose is what makes you angry when you don’t see things going right.
• Purpose is life’s fulfillment
• Purpose is mostly for others — not for you alone.
• Purpose is what makes you truly happy.
• Purpose gives life meaning
• Purpose is the fulfillment dreams, passions, and aspirations all combined

How Can We Discover Our Purpose?

We discover purpose by asking ourselves these 5 important questions:
1. Who Am I?
This is a question of identity
2. Where Am I from?
This is a question of your source, origin or heritage.
3. Why Am I here?
This is a question of purpose
4. What can I do?
This is a question of ability.
This is a question of potential
5. Where Am I going?
This is a question of destiny.

How Do We Know That We’re Fulfilling Our Purpose?

• We’re happy doing what we do
• Other people enjoy what we do
• Other people are happy about us
• What we do impacts the lives of many people positively
• The money is not important
Once we discover our purpose, fulfilling it is not easy, but we have to start from somewhere.
One way to know that you are on course is when everybody is against your mission and only a few can understand you.
The moment you discover your purpose and start working on it, people will notice and they’ll start opposing you.
First, they’ll laugh at you.
Second, they’ll oppose you violently, trying to stop you.
Thirdly, they’ll accept you as someone unstoppable and useful. Someone they can depend on. Someone they can’t live without.
One thing to realize is that you’re not here on earth by accident.
You’re here for a purpose, a mission…
Once you discover that purpose, you’ll be satisfied and happy and your life will never be the same again.
