The math teacher suddenly noticed that Rakib, the best student in the class, was a bit shy and upset.

When asked the reason, Rakib replied, yesterday he made a post on Facebook to raise public awareness about a serious issue, but got only 20 likes and a handful of comments on that issue, whereas his classmate Sajal (who is a mischievous and inattentive student in the class) made a post on the Facebook after taking his shower mentioning 'I just took a bath' and surprisingly that post got 150 likes and 50 comments.

After listening to Rakib’s statement about his reason for being disappointed in the class, the teacher first felt surprised for not being prepared to answer a question like that, but then laughingly asked Rakib about the number of friends he has in his friend list.

With his head down and with a slightly shy mood, Rakib said that their number is only 200. Now the teacher looked at Sajal and asked him about the number of friends he has in his friend list. Sajal proudly responded that the number of friends he has in his friend list is about 3000.

After listening to the answers from both parties, the teacher gives both of them a simple math.

Rakib is asked to find out the percentage of 20 out of 200 and sajal is asked to find out the percentage of 150 out of 3000.

After a while Rakib replied with an answer of 10% and Sajal 5%.

The teacher kept smiling and said to Rakib, 'now you understand that not only are you a good student in the class but also you are far ahead of Sajal in terms of the percentage of likes and comments from your friends on your Facebook’s post.

Then after a short pause, the Teacher said to Rakib 'listen if you are still disappointed with the number of friends you have on your Facebook then you are suggested to accept all friend requests without verifying any of their profiles, but remember that it is better to have a small number of real friends than to filling up friend list with some anonymous people and also remember another thing, In some cases, the percentage is more important than the big number, for example, the percentage of good or philanthropic work you are doing in a day is more important than the total number of job you are doing or accomplishing in a day as a whole. ©
